We can't move back to Ireland (visa updates)
Переглядів 3,1 тис.3 роки тому
Ireland Immigration has refused all of our applications and appeals for the last year and a half, and we've finally decided to stop fighting for now. We don't agree with their reasoning, and we could fight the decision, but we've decided to call it. We're not done with our journey though, and if you're interested in following along, I'd love to have you. Thanks for your support across the years...

This is why there's no video this week
I have never bought a smartwatch and i never will. I dont need a smartwach to tell me im stressed when i selfe can feel it just as well. Love to have automatic watches that will last way longer than a smartwatch
I like it❤
I totally agree with this video! Thank you for making it. Still relevant 7 years ago.
I thought I was the only person who thought that an iWatch was not a great idea for my mental wellbeing. We need to take a break from the digital world and smart watches are not helping.
How about the Garmin instinct crossover?
Planned obsolescence A real watch can be passed down for generations, I still wear my Grandfathers Seiko, I'm 47 BTW.... he died in 1986, watch was bought in 1977 for his Fathers day from my dad. also it has never interrupted a conversation or ever needed to be charged or change out a battery....Automatic watch
"I'll never be Irish." Quite true. Unfortunately we let Africans hijack our identity three weeks after arriving. Ireland's populace is anti-white and subverted.
Do I'm listening to a guy who buys Apple and MVMT? He's in no place to give any watch advice to anyone
I got a Galaxy watch 6 for free included as a freebie when I switched cell phone providers. That is the only way I would have gotten one. I had no interest at all in getting one, no need, and now that I have it I use it enough for a few things more then JUST the time but not enough to have paid anything past like $20 for it.
i already have apple watch 8 i want to switch to casio vintage should I do it or just stick with apple watch
Analog watches are best. Watches are made just for checking time. Smartwatches are just a distracting material. You have iphone for all those tasks.
Never bought any smartwatch, only hear to appreciate my seiko analog watch. 😊
Real watches don't have batteries 😉
Quartz
Real watches do have batteries
welcome to our world, friend.
I hate smart devices for these same reason, i have laptop and smart phone. Smart phone i don't want to have but because of work i had to have.
I'm now watching this 6 year old video and I can completely relate to what you're saying. I started with a Galaxy watch 3. I wore it for a while, then it had to be the Pixel watch that was new on the market at the time. I felt good. Sleep tracking, step monitoring, health metrics, notifications, making phone calls with the watch, using Google Assistant. cool. - now, after almost a year, I'm stressed by the clock. It doesn't add any value to me. I will take off your watch today and wear one of my automatic watches. pity about the money.
Casio digital watches are very good.
Cory from 2024 here: Another year, another batch of wonderful (and passionate) viewers and commenters continue to spin by the video. It's great to see you here (unless you're mean, then not really). Recently I've been sporting a Timex Weekender with a custom leather strap, which I'm really loving. Still got the Seiko, and between the two, they're covering all of my watch needs. Still no desire to return to an Apple Watch. What watch are you wearing in 2024?
Apple Watch Ultra 2 xD its a useful tool even though its an ugly watch
Casio G-Shock 5600UE and Casio F-91W
Rolex Air King that I got 25 years ago. I will never change to a smart watch both because of the reasons you stated and because I’m a mechanical watch aficionado. Also, an Apple Watch depreciates like hell from day 1. A fine mechanical watch will keep its value forever or even appreciate in value over time. Apple Watch is a horrible investment
Man how did I stumble upon this video? Haha! As for the watch - I ditched the Apple Watch last year, and been rocking a Seiko 5 Sports GMT Reinterpretation in Blueberry colourway - so far, happy with the decision!
I don't like the idea of that much tech next to my skin for hours & hours. Seems unhealthy & I won't do it.
Coming from an Apple Watch (for 2 years) and finding out becoming fascinated with how traditional watches worked to measure time has had me sold on going back to wearing normal watches. I too feel it is impractical to take out a cellphone just to look at the time like this current generation does. Ever since I discovered my love for mechanical watches and how they work to measure time, the craftsmanship that goes into making these little soulful machines for us to wear on our wrists, I can happily say that I’m never going back to wearing a smartwatch. Ever. There is beauty in simplicity.
MAn stop. We love ya
no I love YOU
I'm wearing my trusty Seiko SPB239J1
The problem you get is getting your hectic life more complicated. As an example, you're used to fitness/ run whatever.. which you did without a smartwatch. Perfect, you feel what your body is telling you. Now, we use a smartwatch, and after your workouts, you get the message to rest for at least 60 hours. Before, you never thought of that, and now you're wondering if you are as fit as you always thought. And.. the mind gets trapped. Is something wrong with me? It has a bright and darker side. Even with sleeping, if you experienced a somewhat bad night.. and your watch tells you it was bad.. you probably feel bad. I bought a Garmin myself and think of dumping it just for the few reasons above.
Totally agree man, having a mini phone on your wrist is not a way to live for me, I got 2 Tissot & 1 Citizen watches both mechanical its a fun hobby
So the analog watch with 0 benift added value to ur daily life?
"Benefit" is subjective. The benefit of regaining focus and not worrying about stuff I didn't care to worry about was, to me, a benefit.
@@corydhmiller i do agree somehow, thats why i bought a non-lte smartwatch, to leave my phone behind. So i can still use gps and know directions when am outside also can receive calls and make ones if i found a wifi connection with samsung call&text feature.
Yep. I have 2 watches. A cheap digital for day to day use and jogging. And a nice analog watch for dressing up a bit. That's it. Neither one ever needs charging and will probably last decades.
Dear i have a question i am in my 7 weeks that i have i applied for stdent visa they have not yet answered me it is good news or bad😢I sent to irish ambassy in south africa they sent to the iris immigration in dublin.
My smartwatch was telling me I've done 20 steps before I even got out of bed, 🙄 I also went back to a regular watch.
You may be a sleepwalker 😴💤
Getting bored of my apple watch,no use except time , occasionally workout data, charging daily is a big letdown ,going for analog watch , simplicity is best only u realise it later
Not to mention every few months having to update the software. I don't wear watches too often, but I have 7 regular watches and I like all of them more than the Apple watch Se that I have. All 7 watches combined cost less than the Apple watch did, definitely have buyers remorse over purchasing it.
You sound like an extremely boring person. 😂🤣😂.
In my opinion Apple Watches and other smartwatches are more convenient for people who are athletes who need to know their performance for example in sports like running, swimming etc, or others who prefer to use a watch to replace a cell phone because they feel more comfortable with this kind of devices… otherwise is not important to know how many steps I have run and other similar info, and having a smartwatch would be to have 2 cell phones and what it stands for: Charging frequently, more money spent, more maintenance etc, for those reasons I don’t buy it and wear beautiful watches like tissot, victorinox, etc
I have an AW series 8 that I wear for everyday usage, a G Shock 2100 for outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and a seiko for special occasions when I need to dress up. So far, works for me. May or may not upgrade AW when this one out dates
I have always been a big fan of regular watches. I have friends who just bought apple watch and all those technology’s but regular watch works well for me.
My dad: I will never waste money to buy a smart watch. I walk every day and if I want to check my messages, I'll use my phone. Also my dad: *proceeds to use a smart watch gifted to me that I left back at home (didn't suit my use case) citing:* The battery may not work if I don't use it. Lol.
Finally smart man without smartwatch! thank you for honest thoughts.
Having an Apple Watch saved my relationship with my teenage daughter. One night, she texted me on her iPhone that she needed me to pick her up and I didn’t because my iPhone wasn’t next to me as I slept. She was irate with me! So, I bought an Apple Watch which alerts me (a noticeable vibration on my left wrist and a loud ping sound) wherever a text message arrives. Now, I never miss her text messages because I wear my Apple Watch all the time when she’s away from home.
Smartwatch is toxic. I still love traditional watch
Great video Cory. It's beyond me why anyone needs to carry 2 phones, one in their pocket, one on their wrist. That said, smart watches have come a long way and make a great medical device. Reading sugar levels for diabetics, monitoring for irregular heartbeats and alerting of falls. They do have a place for those who are unwell and can be life savers. I love classic mechanical watches and collect them. I find smart watches ugly but who knows, as I age I may need one myself.
very well said
Jesus mate,spit it out
5 years later I'm still trying to say it can you believe
Go cory!
Some of my father's paternal ancestors came from County Roscommon and I spent a couple of days in Roscommon
For me it's not one or the other. It's having both and wearing the type I need for that day, depending on what's happening.
Great points.
my apple watch always need to be charge
Years ago I watched a cookie show on PBS with Clodagh McKenna and thought Ireland was so beautiful and it would be a wonderful place to visit. Now, after watching a lot of Irish videos visiting Ireland as an American is 1 step up from visiting Iraq, the Irish hate us just as much but they won't shoot us down in the street. They're more rude than the French and they have terrible manners. We have a saying in America when someone is not well mannered, "What were you brought up in a barn?" apparently most Irish people were brought up in a barn or at least they act like it. Would it kill you to say excuse me after you burp or sneeze and why do you take the Lord's name in vain SO OFTEN? I wonder if they curse like that in Northern Ireland?
lol
The reasons I never bought a smartwatch! GO Seiko automatic watches!
Im quitting wearing samsung Smartwatch, gping back to regular watches. My top choice the the Casio Gshocks
smart watch is NOT just to tell time like a regular watch do.. especially an apple watch there are literally thousands of features mostly related to you health & fitness.. it is like you are comparing a small knife to a swiss mutifunction army knife... it not comparable & smart watch is like a phone, a fitness band, music player, gps tracker, sleep tracker, heset rate monitor band, alarm, step counter, calorie burn counter, ecg, & thousands more with an always accurate timekeeping watch.. so spending 300 to 400 dollars for an apple watch to last you maybe 3 to 5 years of use is totally worth it... Infact we do not really need a regular watch because all people have smartphone that have always accurate time.. fhat is why smart watch is a must for if's many useful functions.. I am live a healthy lifestyle & always keep track of my health & fitness so I will pick an Apple watch anytime daily.. I only use machanical watch in special formal occassion only if I needed to..
Which was my original point, that I didn't use it for all of those things in the end, and thus it had no value to me, even though I know others have found value from it. Hope you have a lovely weekend :)
